Traditional Pasta served with a Bolognese Ragú

The Bolognese Sauce is famous all around the world but in Italy, it is known as Ragù 



In Bologna Ragú is traditionally served with fresh Tagliatelle made with Eggs and soft Wheat Flour. Individual pieces of Tagliatelle are long flat ribbons that are similar in shape to Fettuccine. Other alternatives to Tagliatelle include other broad flat Pasta shapes such as Pappardelle or Fettuccine and tube shapes such as Rigatoni and Penne - Fusilli also retains the Sauce well.

Spaghetti doesn’t hold Ragù half as well as its chunkier cousins Tagliatelle, Fettuccine and Pappardelle. It’s a concept Antonio Carluccio, the late Italian chef, explained in 2016 when he claimed “spaghetti bolognese…does not exist in Italy.

However, kids and Walt Disney may disagree!

Bolognese Sauce is also often used as a base to make a quick Lasagne.

“We just wanted to review the Chilli and Bolognese! 
We needed a quick meal tonight before going out to the fireworks and these little pots were perfect! Joe and I had the chilli on some nachos, Oscar had the bolognese sauce on nachos (why not? 😆) and it took us about 10 mins to make dinner and it was delicious and nutritious! 

When you consider the alternative would have been rubbish, processed food from the freezer, they really are brilliant! 

They’re a really good portion size, absolutely delicious and healthy fast food! They would be perfect for mums and dads who have to get kids to extra-curricular activities in the evening etc, or parents who work late, but still want to provide nutritious meals! 

Plenty of parents don’t pick their kids up until 5.30/6 in the evening and then still have to cook dinner. 

I’m just wondering what else could be put in the same pots? A mild chilli for people who don’t like it too spicy? A curry? Lots of possibilities! With some clever marketing around being nutritious fast food I’m sure they’d be a hit! I know I’d order lots if they’re ok to be frozen, so good for the evenings when Oscar has swimming/ scouts etc and I just need to cook a quick meal for him, love the individual portions!” - Gabby
